While group classes are popular and valuable, private instruction is often preferred if you are just beginning yoga, looking to deepen your practice. or addressing chronic issues like neck/shoulder pain, sciatica, hypertension, anxiety, and depression.
Your first session is typically an evaluation. We discuss your intention for practicing as well as assessing your posture, strength, flexibility and mobility. Together we learn to recognize compensation patterns, then get to the root of them through a mindful, alignment-focused practice, carefully tailored to your individual needs.
My approach to yoga is influenced by Iyengar-Style, Viniyoga, Structural Yoga Therapy and Continuum. When appropriate, I also incorporate trigger point massage, essential oils and intuitive energy-work into the session to help you address the emotional and physical blocks that hamper your well-being.
Yoga is most beneficial when practiced routinely. If erratic hours and a busy schedule make it difficult for you to regularly attend group classes, you may want to consider cultivating a private practice. We work around your schedule and hold sessions in the convenience and comfort of your home.
Rates depend on location and duration of session. Discounts may apply if you purchase a series of four or more classes. We also offer special rates for studio, semi-private and partner sessions.

Balance Work offers affordable, detailed yoga classes in Central LA. Mark's classes specifically cater to yoga for beginners and those looking to gain a deep understanding of alignment in their practice. Each class provides clear, concise guidance, where students learn the nuts and bolts of body mechanics, stress relief, good posture and pain management. While all ages are welcome, Mark's classes attract many students in their 30's to late 70's as well as those healing through injuries.
BalanceWork classes are currently hosted at Liberation Yoga, centrally located in Los Angeles at 124 S. La Brea, 90036, between 1st and 2nd Ave. Classes also meet at Fiesta Hall in Plummer Park (7377 Santa Monica Blvd) and at Kings Road Park in West Hollywood.
