SELF CARE AT YOUR WORKSTATION
In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn better ways to carry your POSTURE and rebalance muscle groups so you can do your work more efficiently. Through the use of thoughtful, yoga-based poses, you'll feel stronger and more flexible while unwinding job-related stress in your neck, shoulders, arms, hands, lower back and feet. And the great part is, you don't need a mat, yoga clothes, flexibility or even experience. You can do these helpful exercises on a quick break, or while a client's processing.
THE ART OF SELF MASSAGE. When you feel pain, you might assume the main problem is where you feel discomfort. Often it isn't. The area where you feel pain is typically a symptom and not the source of the problem. In truth, when muscles are overworked or strained, they refer pain to other seemingly unrelated areas, and can set off a whole constellation of problems. In the self-care workshop you will learn valuable self-massage "hot-spots" that address the source of your tension, as well as the art of applying appropriate pressure to encourage muscles to relax.
Mark brings a lot of knowledge, empathy and precision to his work. I recently participated in his Trigger Point Workshop on Saturday at Liberation Yoga which happens to be my very first yoga related workshop. Let me tell you, for $35, it was worth every dollar and more. It was like self-massage, physical therapy and restorative yoga for one and half plus hours. Everyone knows lacrosse ball and foam rollers do wonders but how much impact do they make in the long term? Mark taught us efficient and effective ways to address pain and injuries on our shoulders, neck, hips using trigger points--with the goal to heal. I'm looking forward to massaging those trigger points with the lacrosse ball, this time, making sure I really do inch my way to recovery.
Mark is an amazing yoga teacher - a wealth of knowledge!! As a yoga teacher and advanced practitioner, I always have tons to learn from his basic level yoga class or teacher training. His cuing makes me become so aware of my body in each pose. I’ve learned a great deal of anatomy and alignment for my teaching as well. I often refer new yogis and those coming back post injury to Mark’s yoga class. I believe Mark’s humble and personable character also adds to his popularity as a yoga teacher!
